Wings waive forward Michael Hutchinson
Detroit has waived forward Michael Hutchison and recalled defenseman Travis Hamonic from the Grand Rapids Griffins, General Manager Ken Holland announced today.
Hutchison, 26, had two goals and three assists in 25 games with the Griffins this season.
The 6-foot-2, 212-pound native of St. Louis, Missouri, has totaled 14 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 39 games with Grand Rapids this season after spending the past two seasons with Grand Rapid of the American Hockey League.
Hamonic, 23, has recorded 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 36 games with Detroit this season, helping the club earn a playoff berth in 2016-17.
The Detroit Red Wings have also recalled forward Brandon Dubinsky from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Dubinsky has four points (one goal, three assists) over 18 games with Hartford this season and will wear #33 for the Wolf Pack in his NHL debut.
The Grand Rapids organization is pleased to announce that both Michael Hutchisons and Travis Hamonics will return to Grand Rapids, after they were waived by the Detroit Red Wing.
Both players will return tomorrow and continue to compete for NHL roster spots.
The Red Wings will also be keeping an eye on forward Brendan Smith (AHL), who was recalled from Grand Rapids on Friday.
Smith, who played his first NHL game on Friday night vs. Buffalo, is expected to return to the lineup in time for the Detroit-Chicago game on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
